Land of the Sky XXVI took place on 25-27th January at the Crowne Plaza Resort Asheville, One Resort Dr, in Asheville, North Carolina 28806.
A total of 199 players competed in four sections: Open, Asheville, Buncombe, U12. All sections were played over five rounds of Swiss system and Open section is rated with FIDE.
The Open section had 23 participants. GM Sergey Kudrin (USA 2531) won the top prize of $1600 after finishing undefeated with 4,0/5 points.
FM Miles Ardaman (USA 2282), Richard Tyler Francisco (USA 2259), Chris Mabe (USA 2255) and Misael Mestres (USA 2145) shared the second place with 3,5 points each.
Asheville (U2200) section had 57 players. 20-years old Peter Suich (USA 2151) is the clear winner with 4,5 points.
Buncombe (U1700) section featured 68 players. Alex Little (USA, 1721 uscf) convincingly won the first place with perfect 5/5 score.
U12 section had 65 participants. Stephen Haas (USA, 1199 uscf) also played in great shape to conclude the event with perfect 5/5 score.
